Make a Difference Mystery Tour

Day 1

Make a Difference…

On this tour. Introduce your group to a new experience…volun-tourism! Not only will you have fun, you are making a difference in the community you are visiting. Start off the day at Fresh Meals on Wheels. This local site is not your average “make food, deliver it to shut-ins” facility. This state-of-the art center is the model that many in the US are trying to duplicate. With the latest technology in safety features, a top-of-the line kitchen set up, health guidelines that are hospital grade and a staff of volunteers that is top notch – the community is in good hands with this service! Take time today to help out in the kitchen, work in the gardens, package goodie bags or lend a hand in whatever is needed, you will feel good about making a difference. Reward yourself afterwards with a home-cooked meal served right at the center. Talk about making a difference! Arrive at your hotel to rest and freshen up before tonight’s event. The beautiful, Historic Sheboygan Masonic Lodge has a fascinating history and our knowledgeable guide is rich with stories. There is meaning to the symbols scattered throughout, and the rich warm tones of the décor is sure to sooth you. Dinner is served at the lodge, then finish out the night with an energizing West African Drum and Dance Class.

Day 2

After Breakfast…

Meet up with your local guide for a tour of the historic neighborhoods and lakefront. Learn about the many shipwrecks and take a few minutes to stretch your legs and walk through the remains of the Lottie Cooper, a schooner that capsized in the late 1800s and was salvaged in 1992. This 89-foot section on display is believed to be the largest section of a Great Lakes Schooner on public exhibit. Lake Orchard Farm Retreat sits on the edge of Lake Michigan offering scenic vistas unlike any other. This six-generation family farm recently expanded their business to include Lake Orchard Farm Aquaponics to showcase their environmentally sustainable agriculture by harvesting fresh vegetables and fish. The educational tour through their facility ends in the event barn, where you can feast on fish tacos for lunch. It doesn’t get any fresher than that! The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center is the newest attraction to join the area and is sure to be considered a “must see” for years to come. This world- class interactive showcase was built to educate visitors about why agriculture is important and where our food is produced. With hands-on learning opportunities, a birthing barn, tours of local farms and a café and country store – this is not your ordinary farm! Before returning to your hotel, be sure to stop at Miesfeld’s Meat Market, featuring the brats that made Sheboygan famous. Browse the market with over 400 meat items, brats, cheeses, breads, wines and so much more. Don’t forget to bring home those unique Sheboygan delicacies. With some healthy choices, Nourish offers proactive, experiential learning activities and programs to encourage individuals and organizations in our community to make more wholesome food choices by growing, cooking, and supporting our local food system. Together we can educate and empower people and create a healthy community.

Day 3

Start Your Morning Right…

Begin the morning with a leisurely stroll through the James Tellen Woodland Sculpture Garden. With over 30 historic, religious and mythic figures within the woods, this is “one of the finest exhibits of outdoor art in the state.” St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church is rich in local history, dating back to 1906. This beautifully ornate church is a site to see and the cultural background is fascinating. A traditional Greek lunch is served while you are entertained by folk dancers.
